Touch Point - the pianist
The pianist, composer and arranger Enrico Pieranunzi was
born in 1949 in Rome. He learned to play the piano early. Soon,
his father, a guitar player, introduced him to the world of jazz
music. As a result, he followed a career not only as a classical
pianist and teacher at the conservatoire of Frosine, but
also as a jazz pianist, composer and arranger. Since 1975, he has been on
stage with his own ensembles, mostly trios, and has been playing with
a number of eminent jazz musicians. He is mainly influenced by Bud
Powell, Chick Corea, Paul Bley und Bill Evans. Many times, he was selected
Italy’s number 1 jazz musician. Moreover, in 1997, he was awarded with
the “Django d’Or” for being the best European musician.
“The Roman pianist has created one of the most successful experiments
of today’s jazz music scene. His sense of nuances and dynamics is reflected
in his playing, at times lyrical and meditative, at times venturous
and intoxicating.” Le Monde
